Welcome to the Ataribuno Cervix Foundation (ACF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving gynecologic health and preventing gynecologic cancers among women in underserved communities globally. We work to increase awareness, promote early detection, and expand access to life-saving screening services. A world free from preventable gynecologic cancers
ACF envisions a world where every woman has the opportunity to live free from preventable gynecologic cancers. Our mission is to reduce the burden of gynecologic cancers through education, screening, vaccination, research, and advocacy. We work toward equitable access to healthcare services regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status.
Background of ACF
The Ataribuno Cervix Foundation was established to address disparities in gynecologic health and cancer prevention in underserved communities. Recognizing the challenges many women face in accessing healthcare, ACF was founded to provide education, screening, and advocacy. Today, our work continues to empower women and promote healthier communities worldwide.
Dr. David Ayangba Asakitogum

Our founder
A nurse, educator, and women’s health advocate
David Ayangba Asakitogum, PhD, MPhil, RN is a UCSF School of Nursing scholar. He received his nursing diploma from the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College, a master’s in nursing at the University of Ghana, and a certificate in Leadership and Management in Health at the University of Washington.
His experience includes working as a nurse clinician and nurse educator in rural districts in Ghana, where he became a women’s health advocate on Malaria in Pregnancy prevention, HIV PMTCT, and cervical cancer awareness creation, and promoted adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health policies.
Asakitogum’s interest in oncology started when he took obstetrics and gynecological studies in college, which shaped his research interest in cancer care and prevention with an emphasis on the quality of life of patients with gynecological cancers. His previous research includes cervical cancer, screening practices, traditional and orthodox care, and management modalities.
The UCSF Global Cancer Fellowship will support his research goal to develop an intervention to improve the quality of life of rural gynecological cancer patients and establish a cancer registry in Ghana.
